Men's Explorer BUGTECH®+ Stretch Zip-Off Pants:

Lightweight anti-insect zip-off pants are just what every outdoorsman needs. These BUGTech®+ Stretch men's high-performance convertible cargo pants have been tested to provide insect defense and UPF50+ sun protection. Moisture wicking and quick drying features are useful in the field and for wash-and-wear benefits on camping trips and travels.

Inside leg length adjustment note: We purposefully leave the bottom hem of these pants very simple in design so that it is easy for someone proficient with a sewing machine to adjust the inside leg length for a better fit. Please always ensure that the fit for the pants is correct before making adjustments, as we are not able to offer refunds for items which you have adjusted in any way. 

Zip-Off Pants in an Expedition-Tested Design:

• BUGTech®+ Stretch Collection products fabric is lightweight, technical, micro-ripstop fabric with high-performance features. These include built-in anti-insect treatment, UPF50+ sun protection, moisture wicking and quick drying properties, and slight stretch for added comfort. 
  
• We care, you wear. BUGTech®+ Stretch Collection fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. This means it has passed globally standardized safety tests for harmful substances.
  
• Technical fabric with a bit of flex for fit and comfort during activities and travel.
• Comfortable, elasticated waistband with a drawstring and button and fly closure.
• Pant legs zip off to convert to shorts.
• Pants convert into three-quarter pants by rolling and securing the pant legs with a button and tab on the inside of the trousers.

Insect repellent BUGTech+ Collection:

• The insect repellent feature of our BUGTech+ Collection is powered by a proprietary EPA-registered Insect Shield® finish.
• The Insect Shield® formula is bonded tightly to our fibers of our BUGTech+ products - resulting in effective, odorless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of apparel. Insect Shield's insect repellent treatment has no smell, leaves no sticky residue, and does not absorb into your skin. You won't be able to tell that it is there, but the bugs will be able to tell.
• Insect Shield® finish on BUGTech+ products is registered to last up to 70 washes.
• Insect Shield® has been proven and registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums).
• In addition to the insect repellent finish we apply to our BUGTech+ products, the unique woven construction of BUGTech+ fabric also offers a high level of protection against mosquitoes as it is not easy for mosquitoes to bite through the fabric. This further enhances the insect repellent qualities of BUGTech+ collection.

Sun Protection:

• The BUGTech+ Stretch Collection has UPF50+ sun protection built into the fabric in two ways: The physical woven construction of the BUGTech+ product fabric provides a high level of protection from the sun. We then apply a further UPF50+ finish to the BUGTech+ product fabric to double down on the sun protection which the fabric provides.
• We also doubled down on testing the UPF50+ protection provided by the BUGTech+ Stretch Collection using not one, but two testing standards - which were carried out in independent labs. Both the Australian-standard AS/NZS 4399 & the USA-standard AATCC 183-2020e tests found that BUGTech+ Stretch provides high level UPF50+ protection. The AATCC 183-2020e test deemed the protection category for the BUGTech+ Stretch product fabric to be 'Excellent' in both wet and dry tests.

Wicking:

• We ensure the ultimate in cool comfort through the highly-effective wicking action of BUGTech+ product fabric. Wicking is the movement of moisture away from the skin, and it is this which creates a cooling effect.
• The wicking action of the BUGTech+ product fabric ensures that this shirt has a fast drying time.

Stretch:

• We have woven stretch fibers into the BUGTech+ product fabric for added performance and comfort.

More information:

• Top Tip: back-up the protection offered by your BUGTech® clothing by using an effective insect repellent spray or lotion.
• Please note: In very rare cases - and only in very cool and dry conditions - BUGTech+ products may show a frosted effect before you wear or wash your BUGTech+ clothing.  This is simply light refracting off the BUGTech+ product finish and it does not impact on the insect repellent efficacy nor the fabric performance. This effect will no longer exist when the item is worn or washed.

MEN'S PANTS SIZE CHART

• This size chart only uses the actual garment measurements for pants. Please see below this size chart for all garment measuring instructions. 
• If you are between sizes it is usually best to go for the larger size for a looser fit; and for the smaller size for a more fitted fit. If you have any queries about sizing, please use the links in the footer of the online store to contact us. Note too that the sizing & fabric for our Safari Store US clothing differs from the UK The Safari Store, so please always check Safari Store US size charts before ordering.

For all garment measurements, select a similar pair of pants which you own and which are a good fit.

How to Measure '1/2 Waist at Top Relaxed (Garment)'

• Place the pants flat on a table. With front and back waist bands together, gently pull the pants flat and then measure across the top of the pants. This is shown in the image below as 'a' to 'b'. Note that Safari Store pants have elastic in the waistband and so the actual Safari Store pants may have a slightly smaller relaxed waist measurement than shown above, but the design still allows for a good amount of stretch for the best fit. The removable drawstring also makes the fit on the waist easier to adjust.
  
• Compare the measurement to '1/2 Waist at Top Relaxed (Garment)' on the size chart above to determine the size to order. 

How to Measure '1/2 Hip (Garment)'

• Place the pants flat on a table. Measure 8 inches below the waist seam (the bottom seam on the waistband) and 8 inches below the waist seam at each edge of the pants. This will mean that you measure across the hip in a slight V shape so that the tape ends up perpendicular to each side of the pants. This is shown in the image below as 'c' to 'd' to 'e'. 

How to Measure 'Inside Leg'

• Place the pants flat on a table. Measure from the crotch point seam down the inside of the leg to the end of the bottom hem of the pants. 

We do allow a 0.5" (1.2cm) tolerance/variation for the garment measurements from the garment measurements in the size chart above, which is the international tolerance for clothing.
