Wide-Brimmed Hat in an Expedition-Tested Design:
- Light in weight, yet strong by construction. S/M weighs 6.7 oz (190g); L/XL weighs: 7.8 oz (220g); XXL weighs: 8.5 oz (240g).
- 360-degree, wide brim. Brim measures 3.15" (8cm) for all sizes, measured from outer edge of the brim to the base of the crown.
- Mesh crown with snap buttons allow you to wear the brim up if you choose to - simply flip and clip.
- Eyelets on the side of the crown with brass grommets for added ventilation.
- Crown heights are: S/M 4.3" (11cm); L/XL 4.5" (11.5cm); XXL 4.7" (12cm).
- Made from durable 12-oz safari-grade cotton canvas in safari-suitable colors to make sure you always blend in. Khaki, Dark Brown, and Olive are our recommended colors for walking safaris.
- Water repellent finish is applied to the canvas fabric.
- Flat-packable foam brim construction, which adds an element of buoyancy too the hat.
- Adjustable internal drawstring within sweatband, which helps you to tweak the fit should you need to.
- Detachable and toggle-adjustable chin strap.
- Detachable and interchangeable braided leather hat band - style the hat your way with or without the braided leather hat band.
- UPF50+ protection as proven in an independent test by Intertek. Applies to the top of the hat, brim, and forehead canvas flap (excludes the mesh). In the tests, Intertek found that the 'Mean Ultraviolet Protection Factor UPF' score for the hat came to 2,000; and the blocking percentage for the hat is 99.95% for both UV-A and UV-B. This exceeds the 98% threshold for UPF50 and so the rating for this hat is UPF50+. Please always back up the sun protection provided by your hat by using an effective sunscreen lotion or spray.
- Made and styled for men, women - and for older children too. Please use the size chart to determine the size to order for the best fit.
- Packing advice: the Frontier hat is made to be flat-packable, and this is how we pack the hat when we travel. Place the hat flat into your luggage and make sure that the brim stays as flat as possible. The crown and mesh sides are packed level with the brim. It is very important that no items crush the brim, nor the crown. Note that the mesh may crease and if this is an issue for you then it is better to travel and carry your hat; or opt for a hat without the mesh sides - such as the Adventurer (some creasing of the fabric may still happen with the Adventurer). While it is up to your personal preference, we do not mind if the canvas creases slightly when we travel with the Frontier Full Canvas Hat as, over time, creasing reduces as you wear the hat. After all, the main purpose of the hat is to protect you from the sun, with the flat-pack function adding to the convenience of traveling with this hat.
