- See the Features & Technology tab below for even more information about this puffer.
- Layering tip: Days out in the field often start cold, warm up through the day, and then cool off again at night. A great layering tip is to wear a BUGTech+ Stretch shirt as your base layer, then for cooler climates the Women's Long Sleeve Serengeti Shirt over that, with the Women's Packable Puffer Vest as the key warm layer. Remove or add these three layers to suit conditions. If mornings start out more warm than cold then only wear the BUGTech+ Stretch shirt or the Serengeti T-shirt - with the puffer over that.

Primaloft® Insulation:
- We selected Primaloft® as the ultimate insulation layer for the Packable Puffer Vest - and we believe nothing comes to close to the versatility and warm of Primaloft®.
- Primaloft® was first developed for use by the United States Army as a water-resistant, synthetic alternative to down. The issue with down is that it loses its warming efficacy when wet, which is a major factor to consider which outer layer is best to wear when outdoors.
- The ultra-soft microfibers used to make Primaloft® deliver excellent thermal efficiency.
- Primaloft® technology also provides a high level of warmth without bulk. This is another reason why we selected it - it is lightweight and packable.
- Where Primaloft® is truly in a class of its own is in how it behaves when it gets wet. Unlike down which gets sodden, loses shape and crucially does not provide warmth when wet - Primaloft® is water-repellent and maintains 98% of its warmth, even in wet conditions.
- Primaloft® uses industry-first recycled binder fibers which give the insulation structural integrity and stability, delivering the highest-performing 100% recycled synthetic insulation. This makes it planet-first too.
- Due to the water-repellency action of Primaloft®, the Packable Puffer Vest will also dry faster than down and other jackets.
- Primaloft® is bluesign®, Global Recycled Standard, and Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified.
Shell Fabric:
- For the ultimate shell fabric we selected a high performing, yet beautifully soft to the touch, matte finish 100% Polyamide fabric.
- The shell fabric was engineered to work with the Primaloft® insulation layer to repel water. While not waterproof, the shell fabric is water retardant and tested to the ISO 4920 standard. We have been very impressed during extensive field tests - including in light rain - how well the shell fabric and the insulation layer work together to keep you warm.
Say no to plastic philosophy:
- Packaged in a bag made from recyclable paper as part of our 'say no to plastic' environmental philosophy.
WOMEN'S PUFFER VEST SIZE CHART
- Ignore Body Measurements - Please Only Use Garment Measurements: To get the best fit we highly recommend using the garment measurements only (and use the garment measurement instructions below this size chart). Body measurements are always estimates and so are not the best way to get your size right.
- '1/2 Chest Garment', is the actual measurement for the Puffer Vest itself. Please see below this size chart for all garment measuring instructions.
- For 'Full Chest Body' this is your chest body measurement, measured under the arms and around the fullest part of your chest. Body measurement is not the best way to work out your size: please only use garment measurements.
- If you are between sizes it is usually best to go for the larger size for a looser fit; and for the smaller size for a more fitted fit. If you have any queries about sizing, please use the links in the footer of the online store to contact us. Note too that the sizing & fabric for our Safari Store US clothing differs from the UK The Safari Store, so please always check Safari Store US size charts before ordering.

For all garment measurements, select a similar jacket which you own. If you do not have a jacket then select a collared long sleeve shirt as it will give you an idea of the size to order.
How to Measure '1/2 Chest Garment'
- Place the jacket flat on a table. The half chest measurement is from where the armhole seam meets the side seam (the jacket's armpit) across the chest of the jacket to the opposite point where the armhole seam meets the side seam. The image below shows how this is measured from 'a' to 'b'.
- It is important that you gently pull the jacket flat from each side so that it is truly as flat as it can be, as we have shown in the image below. No creases or wrinkles as that will affect the measurement.
- Compare the measurement to '1/2 Chest Garment' on the size chart above to determine the size to order.
How to Measure 'Front Length'
- With the jacket flat on a table, on the front of the jacket measure from the highest point on the shoulder, next to the collar, down to the bottom of the hem seam. It usually helps to lift the collar up on the jacket you are measuring so that you can access the highest point of the shoulder where it joins the collar. See measurement 'c' to 'd' on the image below.
We do allow a 0.5" (1.2cm) tolerance/variation for the garment measurements from the garment measurements in the size chart above, which is the international tolerance for clothing.
